- About
I have struggled with anxiety my entire life, and as time passes it has grown into an overwhelming force in my life. Through my experiences, I’ve learned how society misunderstands anxiety and depression. I explore the cognitive dissonance in American culture between the need for understanding and treatment of depression and anxiety, and but still stigmatizes the afflicted for being weak-willed, vulnerable, and sometimes violent. To express this I use the visual discomfort of conjoined skulls, animal skeletons interacting with their environment, and visceral elements to express the symptoms of anxiety. I explore what anxiety does to the body, and how it changes people. The mental imbalance wreaks havoc on the body and soul of a person, reflected by the mutations of the skeletons that I represent.
